Canon law requires all Catholics planning to marry to contact a priest for the necessary preparation, dispensations (if needed), and formal permission. Diocesan law requires at least six months’ notice be given to the pastor of the Church in which you are a member. Please do not set a date or make plans until you have met with the Pastor.
